In the 2021 academic year, face-to-face classes for common physical education will be held with adequate countermeasures against the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, for students who are unable to attend face-to-face classes due to unavoidable circumstances, online courses (using on-demand video or live video course) will be offered.
<Examples of unavoidable circumstances＞
Anxiety about commuting to school by public transportation
Health concerns
Living with a relative who has health concerns
Living overseas and unable to come to Japan
<Examples of NOT unavoidable circumstances＞
Unwilling to take practical classes
Having an online (live) class before or after physical education
Students who have unavoidable circumstances and wish to take online physical education must carefully read the following instructions and complete the following form to apply for online physical education by Sunday, March 21.
Based on the reasons for your application, the PE Center will decide whether to approve or disapprove your online PE course and notify you of the decision.
In principle, online applications will not be accepted after the course selection results are announced (April 1, 2021).

• The content of the online physical education class is as shown in the syllabus. The content is not by each sport.
• Online applications will not be accepted after the announcement of the course selection results (April 1, 2021).
• If you take online physical education, you cannot change to face-to-face classes during the semester. Change to face-to-face classes at the beginning of the fall semester is permitted. In such a case, the student must take a course determined by the course selection.
• Depending on the situation of the spread of infection, we may allow students to change from face-to-face classes to online classes.
• Depending on the reason for wanting to take online PE, students may not be allowed to take online PE. In such a case, please take a face-to-face course in a sport have decided in the course selection.
• In principle, we do not accept inquiries regarding the permission to take online physical education.
<Procedure for Online Physical Education Course Application＞
1. Complete the form below (Deadline: March 21, 2021, Sun, 23:59)
※When signing in, please use “s_______@u.tsukuba.ac.jp” to sign in.
2. Register for TWINS using the course number listed in the course approval email that you will receive in return. (Even if you are not permitted to take the course, you will also receive an e-mail.)
3. Start classes (Please check your course on manaba)
If you do not receive a notification of approval or disapproval by the end of March, please contact the PE Center Counseling Room.
